Electro-acoustic composer and percussionist Andrea Belfi—known for his work with B/B/S and The Swifter—explores shadowy rhythmic terrain on Cera Persa, his debut release for Latency.
Structured in two longform parts, Cera Persa gently gestures toward techno without ever fully embracing its momentum. Instead, Belfi crafts a patient, immersive listening experience: a hushed procession of struck drums, flickering textures, and low-frequency murmurs unfolding in a dense, stereophonic haze.
Too meditative for the club, Cera Persa rewards close listening—each detail carefully placed within an ever-shifting acoustic field. As the piece progresses, jazz-inflected hits emerge, scraping electronics twist through the mix, and the sense of stability gives way to something more unstable, exploratory, and tactile.
There are no signposts here—just a compelling drift through percussion and atmosphere. Cera Persa deepens Latency’s catalog of liminal, genre-resistant sound.
