Latency

This compilation brings together eleven new solo works exploring the breadth of the harp as a contemporary instrument. While often associated with classical and romantic traditions, the record highlights its presence across experimental, ambient, electronic, folk, and more.

Curated by Latency founder Souleymane Said, the project brings together an international group of artists: Mary Lattimore, Eve Matin, Ranie Ribeiro, Loréleï Nelle, Sissi Rada, Ahya Simone, Miriam Adefris, Nailah Hunter, Charles Overton, Ange Halliwell and Leng Bian. Each contributes a commissioned solo composition, reflecting a personal approach to the instrument and its possibilities.

Across the eleven tracks, the compilation presents a range of compositional and performative practices, incorporating extended techniques, electronic processing, objects, voice and improvisation alongside more traditional approaches.

Mastered by Rashad Becker and featuring artwork by Louise Lawler, the record will be released by Latency as a limited edition of 500 vinyl copies.
